Tracy Chevalier

Tracy Chevalier FRSL (conceived October 19, 1962) is an American-British verifiable author. She has composed eight books. She is best known for her second novel, Girl with a Pearl Earring, which was adjusted as a 2003 film featuring Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth.



Individual background :

Tracy Chevalier was conceived on October 19, 1962, in Washington, D.C. She is the little girl of Douglas and Helen (née Werner) Chevalier. Her dad was a picture taker who worked with The Washington Post for over 30 years. Her mom kicked the bucket in 1970, when Chevalier was eight years old. Chevalier has a more seasoned sister, Kim Chevalier, who lives in Soulan, France; and a sibling, Michael Chevalier, who lives in Salida, Colorado. As of 2013, Chevalier lives in London with her significant other, Jonathan Drori and child, Jacob.

She moved on from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1980. Subsequent to accepting her Bachelor's degree in English from Oberlin College in 1984, she moved to England, where she started working in distributing. In 1993, she started examining Creative Writing, procuring a graduate degree from the University of East Anglia. Her mentors included authors Malcolm Bradbury and Rose Tremain.



Proficient background :
Following her graduation from Oberlin College, Chevalier moved to England, where she started filling in as an article partner with Macmillan's Dictionary of Art, at that point later joined St. James Press, filling in as a kind of perspective book editor.

Her first novel, The Virgin Blue, was distributed in the UK in 1997 and was picked by W H Smith for their exhibit of new authors. Her second novel, entitled Girl with a Pearl Earring, was distributed in 1999. The work, which depended on the well known painting by Vermeer, has been converted into 38 dialects. Starting at 2014, it has sold more than five million duplicates worldwide. It won the Barnes and Noble Discover Award in 2000. In 2003, a film in light of the novel was discharged, getting three Academy Award assignments in 2004, alongside ten BAFTAs and two Golden Globes. Her 2013 novel, The Last Runaway was regarded with the Ohioana Book Award and was decided for the Richard and Judy Book Club for fall 2013.

In 2011 she altered and contributed towards Why Willows Weep, a gathering of short stories by 19 creators, the offer of which fund-raised for the Woodland Trust, which her better half was a Trustee for.

Memberships :

Chevalier has been engaged with speaking to creators as an individual from different group associations. In 2006, she started filling in as the director for the Management Committee for the UK's Society of Authors, serving in that limit with regards to two years.[citation needed] She served on the Advisory Board of the UK's Public Lending Right from 2008 until 2015, while as filling in as Patron of World Book Night.[citation needed] Girl with a Pearl Earring was picked as one of the books given away in both the US and UK for World Book Night 2013. In 2015 she moved toward becoming President of the Royal Literary Fund, and joined the British Library Board as a Trustee. She is additionally an Ambassador for the Woodland Trust, where her significant other fills in as an individual from the leading group of directors.[citation needed]
